Ugandan President Museveni wins sixth term

Uganda’s long-time president, Yoweri Museveni, is to rule the county for another term having been re-elected with 58.64 per cent of the vote in Thursday’s polls, the country’s electoral commission announced yesterday. The new term will be his sixth as president.

Provisional Presidential results from the announcement from the Uganda Electoral Commission showed that results from 86 per cent of polling stations went in favour of the incumbent president who garnered 5,300,831 votes (58%) while the main opposition candidate Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine got 3,119,965 votes (34.62%).

Kyagulanyi alleged widespread fraud during the election.
