Thomas Tuchel suffered a strange injury during a PSG training session as the French side prepare for their Champions League quarter final with Atlanta in Lisbon
The German suffered a sprained ankle and a broken bone in his foot during a training session on Thursday night.
“Thomas Tuchel was the victim last night of a sprained left ankle with a fracture of the fifth metatarsal during a sporting session,” PSG said in a statement on Twitter.
The Parisian’s boss is having to deal with a host of injury issues ahead of his side’s Champions League clash with Atlanta – and he has now added himself to the list.
Tuchel will be without Kylian Mbappe for the contest in Lisbon after he suffered an ankle injury in the Cup Final win.
When asked about the chances of his star man being ready for the contest the German admitted that he “did not expect too much”.
Midfielder Marco Verratti will also be absent after he suffered an injury on Tuesday.
“[Verratti was] the victim of a severe shock yesterday in training,” said his club. “With a significant right calf contusion resulting in muscle damage which will be assessed in the next 72 hours.”
Defender Layvin Kurzawa and Thilo Kehrer add to the injury list with the latter suffering a bone fracture near his ear.
PSG are targeting a first Champions League semi-final since their Qatari honours bought the club a decade ago.
The Parisians are favourites to see off the Serie A outfit having beaten Borussia Dortmund in the last 16.
Atlanta, who have been hailed by some as the best team in Italy despite finishing third, beat Valencia 8-4 in their last 16 tie.
Manager Gian Piero Gasperini will be without his leading light Josip Ilicic who has not played since July 11.
