Spike Lee Teams up With HBO for 9/11 Documentary.

Spike Lee is about to release an HBO documentary marking 2 years since the 9/11 terrorist attacks in ny City. The film, titled NYC Epicenters 9/11→ 2021½, is already in production and is on target to form its debut later this year on HBO and HBO Max.

The documentary is predicted to supply an “unprecedented, sweeping portrait of latest Yorkers as they rebuild and rebound, from a devastating surprise attack through the continued global pandemic.”

In a recent statement regarding this project, Lee said, “As a replacement Yawker who bleeds orange and blue (the colours of latest York City), I’m proud to possess a ‘Spike Lee Joint’ about how our/my city addressed being the epicenters of 9/11 and COVID-19. With over 200 interviews, we dig deep into what makes NYC the best city on this God’s earth and also the various citizens who make it so. Over centuries pundits and straight haters have proclaimed NYC was dead and stinkin’, only to be proved wrong. you’ll lose ya money betting against ny , New York. And dat’s da truth, Ruth. Be Safe. Peace And Love.”

Slash Film reports that co-heads of HBO Documentary Films, Lisa Heller and Nancy Abraham said, “We’re thrilled to possess another groundbreaking HBO documentary event from Lee . From documenting the devastation of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans to the 9/11 attack on ny City and beyond, we treasure Spike’s singular capacity to chronicle and pay tribute to the human toll of those historic events while bearing profound witness to the strength and resiliency of the human spirit.”

The official release date for the documentary has yet to be announced.
