Comedy as Police Shoots a Man For Allegedly Attacking Them at Night While Enforcing Curfew at 8pm

One family from Sabaki in Malindi is now seeking justice after their kin was shot at night by police officers who were patrolling the area on Wednesday at around 8.00 pm.

The victim identified as Morris Kahindi was severely injured. Dama Kahindi, sister to Morris Kahindi says that the police officers invaded the area yesterday in the evening where they begun firing in the air, an incident that led to the shooting of Morris hence causing him several injuries.

“The police officers arrived here in two vehicles and begun firing bullets in the air. We were forced to run for safety. Morris was behind us and they shot him on his leg.” Dama Kahindi narrated.

Dama Kahindi says that the police officers arrived in two police vehicles and begun the shooting, something that forced the residents to run for their lives. Morris who was behind was shot on the leg, leaving him maimed.

Selestin Zawadi, a resident of Sabaki area revealed that the officers arrived at the area and furiously chased them away.

Safari Kadenge, the village elder in Sabaki has condemned the action by the police officers adding that they begun chasing people away from their businesses at 8.00 pm despite the curfew beginning at 10.00 pm. The elder demands that the officers be held accountable for the shooting of Morris Kahindi.

However, the Commander of Police in Malindi Sub-County police headquarters has said that the police officers shot Morris Kahindi after he allegedly attacked them.

Joab Gayo who is a doctor at Malindi Sub County hospital has also confirmed that Morris was taken to hospital with bullet injuries adding that he is responding well to treatment.
