Chelsea board ‘protected’ N’Golo Kante last summer, rejected 2 big offers
- There were clubs interested in signing the Frenchman last year.
- Chelsea chiefs understood Kante’s importance to the team.
Two unnamed clubs were interested in signing N’Golo Kante ahead of the 2020/21 season, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
However, the Chelsea board ‘protected’ the Frenchman last summer and refused to let him go despite several offers of €50 million+ coming in.
Romano adds that the Stamford Bridge hierarchy consider the 30-year-old to be a ‘special guy and a special player’ and understand his importance to the club.
Kante has been outstanding for the Blues this season following an injury-hit 2019/20 campaign, earning the Man of the Match award in two Champions League semi-final clashes against Real Madrid.
