“iHeartRadio Presents SeeHer Hear Her: Celebrating Women in Music” will broadcast on March 8, International Women’s Day.
iHeartMedia and SeeHer will give Cardi B, Gwen Stefani and Kelsea Ballerini their flowers during a first-of-its-kind International Women’s Day celebration.
On Monday (March 1), iHeartMedia, the most important station group within the country, and SeeHer, the most important global movement to eliminate gender bias in marketing, advertising, media and entertainment, announced “iHeartRadio Presents SeeHer Hear Her: Celebrating Women in Music.” The one-hour event, which can happen on March 8, International Women’s Day, will celebrate gender equality while placing three female champions of hip-hop, pop and country and western center stage for special interviews.
These conversations with Cardi B, Stefani and Ballerini will probe their girlhood dreams, mentors within the music industry, universal challenges and plans to use their platform to elevate the ladies around them. The event also will feature footage and extra interviews from other top female acts.
“iHeartMedia is happy to partner with SeeHer and their SeeHer Hear Her initiative to inspire us all with the stories of wonderful women breaking new ground in hip-hop, pop and country and western ,” Gayle Troberman, executive vice chairman and chief marketing officer of iHeartMedia, said during a statement. “This International Women’s Day it’s important that we are all reminded of what equality can sound like, as we close to celebrate, inspire and support each other .”
Starting March 1, the primary day of Women’s History Month, iHeartMedia will launch an eight-day countdown to International Women’s Day across its 600 broadcast stations, social media platforms and major podcasts. Then when the countdown winds down March 8, women will take over the mic on iHeartMedia’s popular radio shows and podcasts and tap into conversations about equality, inclusion and inspiration. Broadcast stations will devote the hour between 5 and 6 p.m. civil time to playing the most important and freshest hits from today’s top female artists, with special playlists available on the iHeartRadio App.
“We launched #SeeHer Hear Her as a part of the SeeHer movement in 2019 to eliminate gender bias within the music industry and increase the percent of girls ahead of and behind the mic,” said SeeHer President Nadine Karp McHugh during a statement. “We are making progress, but there’s an extended thanks to go. We are delighted to bring this important initiative to scale with iHeart surrounding International Women’s Day. Together we See Her.”
“iHeartRadio Presents SeeHer Hear Her: Celebrating Women in Music” will stream on iHeartRadio’s YouTube and Facebook pages next Monday, March 8, at 8 p.m. ET. it’ll be available to observe on demand through March 14.
