APGA, family debunk death of Abia lawmaker

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Abia State and family of the lawmaker representing Aba North and South Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Ossy Prestige, has debunked reports of his death.

There was apprehension among party faithful and constituents at the weekend when an online media reported that Prestige died in Frankfurt, Germany.

APGA and Prestige’s family, in separate statements yesterday, described the news as misleading, malicious and evil minded publication.

APGA’s Publicity Secretary Felix Nkoro said: “This evil wishful thinking is bad and the handwork of the opposition who are afraid and scared of the Prestige’s quality representation.  The party is not aware of this development, likewise the family, which has the right to notify the public in a case of this nature.

“Therefore, anybody or group hiding under any guise to perpetrate this evil should be mindful of the implications, and be ready to face the law

“The public should discountenance such rumour, ignore the rumour mongers and be properly guided.”

A statement by Chukwu Nnanna, for the family, described the rumoured death as politically-sponsored.

Nnanna however acknowledged that the lawmaker took ill six months ago and has been receiving treatment in Europe.

He said: “…Prestige has a young family and many admirers whose feelings should have been considered regardless of the political intrigues at play.

“The lawmaker suddenly took ill six months ago and is presently receiving specialist care in Europe where he was transferred to after initial treatment in the United Kingdom. This has been responsible for his absence from the public circuit within the period…”
