Nutrition needs vary with age. This is because the types of foods that make up a healthy diet while you’re younger may be slightly different from when you’re older. Hence, some foods need to be consumed in a small amount and others in large amounts to stay healthy.

Although, healthy diets at a young age may not completely change as you grow, especially when already have a good eating diet, nevertheless, you need to be conscious of your nutrition requirement and adjust your diets choices to prevent common diseases associated with old age such as cardiovascular disease, hypertension, dementia, stroke, diabetes, respiratory disorder, and so on.

4. Avocados

Avocados are one of the best fruits that should be consumed as you grow old due to their high antioxidant properties. It improves memory, protects skin, lowers cholesterol, or reduces the risk of arthritis that is common among old people.

5. Nuts

Daily intake of cashew nut, walnut, and almond contains anti-aging properties that can prevent age-related diseases such as cancer, stroke, type-2 diabetes, and nerve diseases. It can also protect the brain as you grow old.

6. Red-and-orange colored produce

According to WebMD, regularly eating watermelon, strawberries, and tomatoes can lower the risk of stroke and cancer due to the lycopene compound present in it.

Other foods fatty fish, whole grains, dark leafy green, and blueberries can also help in improving the overall health as you age. Hence, children, teens, and young adults are advised to eat these foods often to stay healthy.
